Igert Training Grant Awarded

The National Science Foundation has awarded a five-year graduate student training grant in the amount of $3 million to biological sciences faculty members Julian Schroeder and Steve Briggs. This program will train Ph.D. graduate students in the newly emerging interdisciplinary field of Plant Systems Biology. Faculty from multiple UCSD divisions and departments, as well as from the Salk Institute for Biological Studies and the Scripps Research Institute, will participate in the training and research of graduate students. The UCSD entities include the UCSD Division of Biological Sciences, the Bioengineering Department, the Department of Computer Sciences and Engineering, San Diego Super Computer Center, the Division of Physical Sciences, and the School of Medicine.
